Manchester United announced the winner of their goal of the month earlier this week and it goes to recently acquired youngster, Anthony Martial.  The French international scored a sublime solo goal against Liverpool in a 3-1 win for Manchester United.

Instant impact from new signing

The 19-year-old Frenchman came off the bench with just 20 minutes left in the game against United’s rivals to make his Manchester United debut. A daunting task for some especially with Christian Benteke scoring a stunning goal to bring the game back to 2-1, the nerves could be felt around Old Trafford.

But just minutes after the Benteke stunner, Martial replied with a stunner of his own.

Martial was left isolated on the left side of the pitch with Martin Skrtel closing on him applying the pressure. This didn’t faze the youngster who looked up, ran at Skrtel, cut inside and glided past two more Liverpool defenders before leaving Skrtel for dead, he then opened up his body and slotted the ball past Simon Mignolet into the bottom corner to spark scenes of jubilation in the Stretford End.

The goal secured all three points for Manchester United.

Continued fine form after great debut

It would appear to Manchester United and football fans around the world that this goal against Liverpool has given him the belief to exceed expectations early on in his Manchester United career.

The former AS Monaco player has scored four goals in seven games in all competitions for United so far this season, including two in a 3-2 win against Southampton.

The youngster even received praise from former-Manchester United player Gary Neville for his ability to play as a genuine number 9 rather than just be a goal scoring poacher, much like Javier Hernandez was before him.

His performances so far has even seen him be compared to the likes of Thierry Henry, while this may be a bit far-fetched so early on in his career, it shows the level performances he has shown so far.
