On Saturday, Manchester United face Watford as the Premier League reconvenes after the international break. The Red Devils face a side who have conceded just four goals at Vicarage Road this term, the joint lowest concession rate with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

United will face The Hornets, without both Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, however. Rooney is sidelined with an illness, whilst Martial has failed to shake off the injury sustained versus England at Wembley in midweek.

So with just James Wilson remaining as the only recognized striker - but who is not fit enough to play the full 90 minutes - Louis van Gaal has a selection headache in attack.

Darmian should return in defence

In defence at least, the United boss has fewer issues to overcome. Matteo Darmian's availability for selection is timely with Antonio Valencia ruled out until April after the Italian was suspended versus West Bromwich Albion. Phil Jones should continue as will Chris Smalling, who has shaken off a knock.

Marcos Rojo should complete the back four at left-back. The Argentine, since returning to the fold for United, has recorded a clean sheet in every league game, with one assist to his name. Rojo is part of a unit that have not conceded a single goal, since their 0-3 humbling versus Arsenal at The Emirates.

Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger partnership

With Michael Carrick out with an ankle injury, Van Gaal will name the same midfield duo that has played no small part in bouncing back from their loss to The Gunners. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have played 1,157 minutes between them and have built on their initial chemistry.

Herrera to slot back into number 10?

With midfield options dwindling, Louis van Gaal will be forced to tinker slightly. Juan Mata has made the wide-right role his own this term and Jesse Lingard's promising potential has finally bloomed.

That leaves Ander Herrera to play behind the furthest forward attacker. The Spaniard has been in and out of the starting eleven in the twelve games played so far, but Watford presents Herrera with a platform to build on again.

Memphis could start in an advanced role

As documented, with both Rooney and Martial out, Wilson not fully and utility man Marouane Fellaini also absent, Memphis Depay may make a return to Premier League action.

Mata could play the 'false 9' position, but more likely will stick with the lone front man, This is the perfect opportunity for Memphis to make an impact.

The Dutchman has resembled a 'rabbit in headlights' when bearing down on goal thus far, but the opportunity to play a more central forward role and use his pace could be vital experience as he seeks to find form.

Memphis has not played a league minute since Arsenal, after being hauled off at half-time, but with 22 goals to his name last season for PSV Eindhoven, the ability is clearly there to find the net. This could be the perfect stage for Memphis to stake his claim once more. But it is one he needs to grab with both hands.

Predicted XI: De Gea; Darmian, Jones, Smalling, Rojo; Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger; Mata, Herrera, Lingard; Memphis.
