Manchester United came away with a 1-1 draw against Leicester City in their top of the Premier League clash match thanks to a goal from Bastian Schweinsteiger which cancelled out a goal from record breaker Jamie Vardy, but how did the United players perform?

Player Ratings

David de Gea - 7/10

David de Gea was once again required to save United from the losing the game. Apart from conceding a goal to Jamie Vardy, De Gea kept Leicester at bay on a number of occasions which once again showed the reason why he is one of the best in the world. De Gea brings a lot of calmness to the United defence which in turn makes it harder for the opposition to capitalise on any mistakes.

Matteo Darmian - 4/10

Matteo Darmian has come back into the team in the last two games because of injuries and looks a shadow of the player that started the season so well. Darmian's confidence seems to have taken a big drop which in turn is making him look very nervous on the pitch. Darmian got forward on a number of occasions against Leicester but his final ball was very poor, and it is something he needs to work on going forward.

United's central defenders deal with Vardy well

Chris Smalling - 8/10

Chris Smalling had yet another excellent game for United versus Leicester. Smalling had to deal with Jamie Vardy who had scored in ten consecutive games, and Vardy did score again, but any other chance Vardy had to run at the United defence Smalling was there to stop him all the time. Smalling has been consistent all season and was United's man of the match against Leicester once again.

Paddy McNair - 5/10

Paddy McNair hasn't played much this season, but because of injuries he was required in a back three against Leicester. McNair did most things well, but you can still see that he is inexperienced and has a mistake or two in him. Over time though McNair with more game time will do well as he seems to have the confidence on the ball.

Daley Blind 6/10

Daley Blind had another decent game at centre-back for United against Leicester, and he assisted the equaliser for Schweinsteiger from a corner kick. Blind has an amazing ability to play some very good passes from long range which find the other United players. Blind has now become vital for United as he can play in a number of different positions.

Midfield got better as the game went on

Michael Carrick - 5/10

Michael Carrick came back into the team after being injured for last few games, and in the first half he looked very rusty and kept giving the ball away. Carrick is a key member of the United team, but hasn't had the best start to the season. To be fair to Carrick though in the second half he looked much more composed and made United keep the ball much better, and stifle out loads of the Leicester attacks.

Bastian Schweinsteiger - 7/10

Bastian Schweinsteiger showed his class against Leicester by scoring United's goal just before the half-time whistle. Schweinsteiger looked like he was in the mood to score more than the one goal he scored as he kept winning headers in the opposition penalty box which was good to see. Schweinsteiger loves playing for United and he is producing the goods for the team when they need it most. Another solid performance from the Germany captain.

Juan Mata - 5/10

Juan Mata has had to play out in the wing for most of the season, but finally against Leicester he played in the middle behind the two strikers. Mata was ineffective and didn't create much which was disappointing. On the counter attack Mata needs to be quicker at releasing the ball as during the game he stopped the momentum of the attacks. Overall Mata should be doing better and has struggled over the last few weeks.

Another poor performance from the United captain

Wayne Rooney - 3/10

Wayne Rooney had another substandard performance for United and now it is starting to get very worrying about when he will play a good game for United again. Rooney was substituted off with a knock, but really he should have been off much earlier than that. Rooney needs to to get his act together because many United fans are now really angry at Louis van Gaal for keeping playing Rooney when he is in very poor form.

Ashley Young - 5/10

Ashley Young has had to play in a number of different positions so far this season, and against Leicester he played as a wingback. Young looked threatening going forward, but in the first half especially he struggled to defend, and was caught out for the Leicester goal when he played Vardy onside. Young though is a vital squad player for the team, and he gives it his all every single game.

Anthony Martial - 5/10

Anthony Martial looked like the only United attacker who could take the Leicester defence on and try and create something. Martial needs more service because he is struggling to do it all by himself. Martial even when he has an off day still creates more chances than others, and because he doesn't get the proper service he hasn't scored in a while, but at 19 he's still very important for the team.

Substitution Ratings

Memphis Depay - 5/10

Memphis Depay came on in the 68th minute to replace Rooney, and straight away he tried to stretch the Leicester defence. Memphis had a chance late on but blazed his shot over the bar. Memphis needs to be playing ahead of Rooney as he offers much more as he looks to stretch the defence something that Rooney fails to do during the game.
