Arguably the world's best football coach Pep Guardiola prefers a move a to Manchester United over local and title rivals Manchester City.

The Spaniard is considering his future at Bayern Munich with his current deal running out in the summer of 2016. The rumour mill is hotting up, as expected, with both Manchester clubs searching for Guardiola, the perfect fit for their future.

Guardiola prefers United job over City

However, both United and City have managers in place who are achieving targets. After many poor years in the UEFA Champions League, City were one of the first teams to qualify for the knockout stages, ahead of Bayern, BarcelonaReal Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal has radically changed his United side. On Saturday, they drew 1-1 to Leicester City, with just three of the players who travelled to Leicester last season in the matchday squad. He has taken the Reds from 7th to 3rd and a title challenge, but many fans are unhappy with the style of football.

Instead, Guardiola's dynamic style, somewhat built on the same foundations of Van Gaal's, would make them happier. And so, the Telegraph report that Guardiola would prefer a move to the historical Old Trafford, whom he is flirted with in the past, than the Blue half of Manchester.

Sir Alex Ferguson tried to bring him to United in 2012

In 2012, he had dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson in New York where, supposedly, his future as manager of Man United was discussed, with Ferguson seeing him as the ideal successor. With no communication, Guardiola agreed a deal with Bayern.

In 2011, having watched United at Old Trafford he said, “I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day.”

At the same time United approached Guardiola, City and Chelsea were also trying to lure him to the Premier League for the first time.

Both City and United want Spanish manager

United will need to offload Van Gaal and City will need to offload Manuel Pellegrini, but it could prove a move worth taking in the long-term despite a reported £7million payoff fee for Van Gaal.

Guardiola's future should be, privately or publicly, sorted by the New Year with Bayern wanting no hesitation in deciding the future of their club.
