Juan Mata says Manchester United will have to fight in 'six finals' in December as the festive periods beckons.

Man United are third in the Premier League going into the final month of 2015, but fans haven't been happy with performances. The Reds drew 1-1 away at surprise table-toppers Leicester City  on Saturday in another uninspired performance from Louis van Gaal's side.

Before that, PSV Eindhoven  drew at Old Trafford in the penultimate UEFA Champions League Group Stage game. In a game United had to win, they could not even score, leaving them with a tricky task in the final game.

Writing on his weekly blog, One Hour Behind, Mata said "November was an important month in our calendar and it leaves a bittersweet taste,"

Mata says November was bittersweet for Man United

"In the last 30 days we haven't been defeated, but the last two draws haven't been good for us, especially the one on Wednesday against PSV because we knew it was a game that we had to win."

Now United have to win at Bundesliga side Vfl Wolfsburg, who won 6-0 two weekend's ago and have not been defeated at home in the league in 29 games.

A victory will see United top Champions League Group B, but it won't have been an easy ride if they do.

Mata knows win in Wolfsburg will be tough for Reds

"Winning in Wolfsburg is almost the only valid result for us if we want to get through," Mata said. "It's not an easy task, but we are confident that we can make it to the next stage."

He continued, "the Champions League is a very important competition for us and we want to remain in it."

United lost to PSV in the Netherlands in the opening game, as Luke Shaw suffered a horrific leg break. They drew away to CSKA Moscow leaving their away record in a poor position ahead of their trip to Wolfsburg. First they play West Ham United in the Premier League, where they are firmly alongside Manchester CityArsenal and Leicester City as title challengers.

Mata: United have 6 finals in December

"That game in Germany [against Wolfsburg] will be one of the six 'finals' we are facing in a busy December," Mata wrote.

"The next game – therefore, the most important one right now – is on Saturday against West Ham. They have had a good start this season and have won more games away than at home.

"However, as I said, we don't like draws and we want to go back to the victories," Mata said.
