Former Manchester United boss David Moyes spoke to Clare Balding on BT Sport, and has urged the club to stand by under pressure Louis van Gaal.

Moyes says United should stand by Van Gaal

Van Gaal has been getting the stick for United's recent run of eight consecutive games without a win, which has seen the team drop out of the a Premier League's top four, and exit the Champions League at the group stage, but Moyes says he should be given more time.

Moyes said, "what Manchester United stand for is that they keep their managers, they've always supported their managers". Moyes was only given 9 months in charge before he was sacked by the club for poor results.

Moyes continued to say "I hope they stick with Louis van Gaal, he deserves more time" and for that to happen he needs the team to start getting positive results, and get the fans back on his side, and Moyes thinks the club "don't want to become a club which continuously changes their manager".

Moyes feels he should have been given more time at United

Moyes was sacked by United in April 2014 with the club in seventh place with fours games of the season remaining, and Moyes said it was his "understanding that I was going to a club which always looked after their managers, even when they're in trouble" but when things aren't going well you can only wait for so long.

When Sir Alex Ferguson left United it was never going to be an easy job to take over as it was going to take a while to get the club back up to where it had been for many years, and Moyes feels he should have got more than just the 10 months to sort it out.

Moyes said "it was going to take time to change, evolve and of course, there was going to be a changeover in players which takes times" as United have had to buy so many players over the last few windows to try and improve. Moyes feels it "couldn't be done in 10 months".

Moyes says he would not turn the United job if he was offered it again

Moyes was asked if he would take the United job in future again, and he replied saying "of course I would. There are very few managers in the world who wouldn't want to manage Manchester United" which is great to hear as they are the one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it's good that they can still be an attractive job even when they are going through a tough time.
