Manchester United have announced their 24-man UEFA Europa League squad for the two-legged fixture against FC Midtjylland.

The Round of 32 tie could see Luke Shaw feature for the first time, with the young left-back not appearing for United since a double leg break in an away loss in the more senior European competition, the UEFA Champions League, to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.

He is one of many youngsters named in Louis van Gaal's squad, who may be forced to play them due to fixture congestion. The second leg at home Midtjylland comes just three days before what could be a vital clash in terms of getting into the top four this season against title challengers Arsenal.

Poole included in Europa League squad

There is a surprise inclusion with the addition of 17-year-old defender Regan Poole. The Welsh player signed for United last summer but only made his debut at any level on Monday, facing Everton for the under-21s in a 2-0 loss. He was awaiting international clearance but having received it, could now make his first team debut if called upon.

Other than Poole's inclusion, the squad is as expected. Will Keane is included, which may have been a reason for his recall on loan from Preston North End. Meanwhile, other young players like Andreas Pereira, Paddy McNair and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are not included because, due to their age, they can play without registration in the A-list. UEFA rules allow a B-list for these young players who have been trained at the club or in the country.
