Manchester United have been named as the club who offered £145million for Barcelona's Neymar last summer, according to his father.

Neymar Senior revealed in court this week that a side was willing to pay Neymar's buyout clause last summer, and since then he has revealed that United were the club offering the money, but any move is unlikely to happen as the player is happy with the Catalan giants in Spain.

Neymar's father reveals it was United who offered the money for his son

In an interview with Spanish Radio station, Cadena Cope, this week Neymar's father revealed the news about United making the bid for his son saying: "Manchester United is the side that offered €190m for Neymar", which potentially shows a statement of intent from the club that they want to sign some of the best players in the world to improve their team.

He continued to say though that his son "still has two years left on his contract but you can all be calm as my son is happy here" which gives the indication that a move will not happen even if United keep on trying to offer him more money to come to the club.

During his time at the club Louis van Gaal has spent £205 million in the space of 18 months, and with the news that United would be willing to pay the reported figure for Neymar, it shows that the club still has quite a lot of money still to spend if it's needed.

Neymar has really came of age this season for Barcelona

Over the last year Neymar has really stepped out of Lionel Messi's shadow at Barcelona, and shown that he is the future of the club, so it is unlikely that he will leave, and if he did want to, many more clubs than just United would be willing to try and sign him.
