Wayne Rooney has been voted Manchester United’s January player of the month after producing talismanic performances for the red devils.
The United striker has been back to his best of late, helping United to five wins out of their last seven matches, with the number 10 netting in every one of those games apart from United’s home defeat to Southampton.

Rooney had come under intense pressure in the early parts of the season with some levelling criticism at the United captain for not contributing enough to the team, however since the start of the year, the United striker has been in unstoppable form.
United’s recent turn in fortunes has seen Rooney at the centre of the United team, proving that he still has the quality to remain as the Red Devils' main striker.

Rooney needs just five goals to surpass the famous Sir Bobby Charlton in Manchester United’s all-time top goalscoring records, something the captain will be aiming to do as quickly as possible.
The in-form striker is expected to once again lead the line for United as they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea this weekend.
United will travel with a great deal of confidence after recent results and expect their captain to once again lead the way and produce goals for the club.
The United man last scored against Chelsea in 2013 in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, and last scored at Stamford Bridge in February 2012 in a memorable 3-3 draw that saw United fight back from 3-0 down.
Despite Rooney’s inspiring form, scorelines like that are not expected to be replicated this weekend as the 3 previous meetings between the clubs have produced just 3 goals.
The captain is sure to be at the centre of proceedings at Old Trafford, at least until the end of the season, as it is anticipated that whatever position United end up in, by the end of the campaign, it will be reflected by Rooney’s contribution.
