Manchester United vice-captain Michael Carrick insists that the team can take a lot of heart from Sunday's draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, despite failing to win the game.

Carrick says he's proud of how the team performed versus Chelsea

United have started to look much better in their last three games, and they dominated the game against Chelsea on Sunday, but a late goal from Diego Costa resulted in a share of the points. Carrick though says he was proud of how the team performed during the game.

Carrick, speaking to ManUtd.com about the result against Chelsea, said: "I think it was a big day for us in terms of league situation" knowing that United are now six points of a top four place with thirteen games to play, so a win would have put the team in "good shape".

Carrick says Chelsea's late equaliser was hard to take

The midfielder continued to say that the result was "hard to take, losing two points late on" as a late goal was damaging for the team when they deserved much more, but Carrick admits that "we were under pressure for the last 10 or 15 minutes" so it was difficult for the team to keep the ball "but to lose a goal like that is disappointing and that's the overall feeling".

The team now need to build on the good performances in the last few games, and take them into a very difficult end to the month with a lot of fixtures coming up in a short period of time, and Carrick insists the team will keep giving their all to try and win all the games to start climbing up the Premier League table.

Carrick urges to the team to continue the good work over the next few weeks

Carrick says that the team need to continue on with their good work saying "we have to battle on, though, keep going and play something like we have been doing over the last few weeks" and then hopefully the team will start getting the results they deserve.

February is a key month for United and Carrick says that "there is plenty to play for this month and, of course, plenty of points to play for in the league. We're not giving up just yet" which is what the fans want to hear, and the only way to prove it is to show it on the pitch.
