Marcus Rashford has signed a new long-term deal at Manchester United following his fairytale rise to fame over the past three months.

The Telegraph report that Rashford, 18, has signed a new deal, worth around £20,000p/w plus added incentives, and it will be announced in the coming days following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Louis van Gaal's successor, which was announced on Friday.

Rashford set to commit future to United

In a fairytale season for Leicester City, Rashford's story is quite incredible too. In February he came into the United side due to injury issues, having been on the substitutes bench earlier in the season. Replacing Anthony Martial, injured in the warm-up vs  FC Midtjylland, he scored a double on his debut. Days later, he did the same on his Premier League debut against Arsenal. On his FA Cup debut, he scored once and most recently, he scored just two minutes into his senior England debut having yet to play for the under-21 side.

In a drab season, although it finished with the Reds lifting their first FA Cup in 12 seasons, the young players at United have shone out. In fact, it was Jesse Lingard who scored the winner at Wembley in the Cup Final. Another youngster who made a good impression, featuring 14 times for United already in his debut season, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is suggested to be close to signing a new deal at United.

With concerns over Mourinho's focus on short-term success which has often ignored youth, these reports are a positive for United fans. Although it may not be due to the arrival of Mourinho or by request of the Portuguese, the fact United are focusing on committing their youngsters, the most promising ones at least, to long-term deals is a good sign.

Having scored on his England debut, Rashford is now tipped by many to be included in Roy Hodgson's final 23-man squad for this summer's European Championships to top off one of the quickest rises to the top by a young footballer in many years. It was 92 days between Rashford's first team debut for United, where he scored twice, and his England debut, where, of course, he scored too.
