Manchester United have mistakenly revealed that Borussia Dortmund forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be joining the club.

The club began selling away shirts for the 2016/17 season with the Armenian's name on the back on Thursday evening. The mishap came just a few hours after United fans saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirm his move to the Old Trafford club via social media.

Mkhitaryan has been set to sign for the club, as per reports, for many weeks now, with his agent Mino Raiola pushing for an exit from the Westfalenstadion. Raiola also represents Ibrahimovic as well as French midfielder Paul Pogba, who has been linked with United in recent weeks.

27-year-old Mkhitaryan has one year remaining on his contract with German side Dortmund but has requested to leave to join with Jose Mourinho, who replaced Louis van Gaal in Manchester at the end of the season.

Mourinho's Old Trafford revolution is well underway. Eric Bailly signed from Villarreal to bolster United's defensive options while Ibrahimovic's signing is set to be announced by the club very soon.

Mkhitaryan transfer to be confirmed soon

Both Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic could be confirmed by Manchester United in the coming days, particularly since the transfer window official opens tomorrow, on Friday, July 1st.

United's players will begin pre-season officially on July 7th, although those at Euro 2016 in France will have extended holidays. They kick-off their pre-season tour of China in late July, where they will face Mkhitaryan's current club Dortmund as well as Manchester rivals Manchester City, the first meeting of Pep Guardiola and Mourinho for a few years.

Mkhitaryan deal waiting for new fiscal year

Last season, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic, combined, scored 73 goals and contributed to 51 goals through assists. The delay in the announcement of the Mkhitaryan deal is so that Dortmund can include the fee, which is reported to be just above 40 million euros, in the new fiscal year for the club, which begins on July 1st, the same date as the opening of the transfer window.
