Manchester United outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger has firmly stated that the Red Devils will be the last European club that he will play for.

Fight for his place

The coveted Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder has all but been frozen out of Jose Mourinho's first-team picture, having trained with the reserves since the Portuguese coach's arrival.

The 32-year-old only signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford last summer, but has fallen down the pecking order behind new signings Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It has been reported that United would be willing to cut their losses on the World Cup winner, but Schweinsteiger insisted on social media that if United offload him he wouldn't be moving around the continent.

Schweinsteiger said on Twitter: "MUFC will be my last club in Europe. I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich. I will be ready, if the team needs me."

Schweinsteiger concluded: "This is all I can say about my current situation. I want to thank the fans for their amazing support over the recent weeks."

Sad to see

With the transfer windows for both MLS and Chinese Super League, been shut for some time, we could see Schweinsteiger wallowing in the fringes of the United squad.

Schweinsteiger won eight Bundesliga titles and a Champions League during his time at the Allianz Arena and former teammate Manuel Neuer said it is sad to see his absence from the Red Devils squad.

"We know how important Basti has been for all team, be it Bayern or the Nationalmannschaft." Neur told a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

Neur concluded: "For me he's always been one of the best midfielders in the world, and he still is," and adamantly believes "That's why it's sad the footballing world now can't see him."

Manchester United will take on Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday, August 27 with kick-off at 5:30pm BST.
