New Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock takes his new side to Newcastle in a battle of two winless sides.

After a wave of summer activity Newcastle have had a stuttering start to the season in picking up one point from two games and not scoring yet. Despite bringing in three strikers the Toon have looked pretty lightweight up front with Emanuel Riviere being the current starter.

Despite picking up a first win this season all be it in the League Cup, the gloom has not lifted on Tyneside on the back of a 1-0 victory at League one Gillingham courtesy of an own goal.

This is a personal fixture for manager Alan Pardew as he made over 100 appearances for Crystal Palace as a player and is still regarded as a fan favourite amongst Eagles fans.

Crystal Palace come into this game with Neil Warnock at their helm for a second time after he was appointed on Tuesday to replace Tony Pullis who walked out on the club 48 hours before the season.

The former Sheffield United manager comes into a tough job with the Londoners not only winless like their opponents but pointless after two league games following 2-1 and 3-1 defeats to Arsenal and West Ham respectively.

However like their hosts Palace won away to a third tier outfit in the cup midweek although they were a lot more convincing than Newcastle in dispatching Walsall 3-0 courtesy of a Dwight Gayle hat trick.

Warnock is not the only second coming at Selhurst Park this week as the club also secured the services of former winger Wilfred Zaha on a season long loan from Manchester United. Spirits have been lifted off the pitch this week however a result on it would make it a very satisfying few days for the Eagles.
