Tim Krul gained the attention of many football fans last July when he replaced his teammate Jasper Cillessen during the last Fifa World Cup in Brazil, in order to take the responsibility in a dramatic shoot-out against Costa Rica. He ended up saving two penalties and sent Holland through to the semi-finals to face Argentina.

Now the goalkeeper is nearly finishing a medical treatment on his elbow after suffering a ligament damage last Saturday during a training session with Holland, as they were getting prepared to take on Iceland for the European Championship qualifying. Newcastle have released a statement on Krul's fitness and have also made it clear that they are upbeat regarding the player's availability to play next Saturday against Leicester City.

''Tim Krul has been further assessed today by the club's medical staff and the club can confirm that he has nothing more than a very minor elbow injury'' the statement read.

Newcastle have not won a Premier League match this season and have taken only four points so far, condeming them to the bottom of the Premier League table. These circumstances make the 26-year-old's recovery even more crucial as the goalkeeper has the qualities to help the Magpies to get out of this uncomfortable situation.

''The club will continue to monitor the situation but are confident that he will be available for the game against Leicester City on Saturday'', added the statement.
