A Cisse thunderbolt cancelled out an equally good effort from George Boyd to see the spoils shared at Turf Moor.

Burnley had the better of the first half in terms of chances as they started at a fast tempo as they have all season. The first chance of the game was the most clear cut one aside from the goals and came in the 8th minute when Danny Ings was played in behind down the left side of the box where he then cut back on his right foot and bent one across goal but Rob Elliot in for the injured Tim Krul pulled off a brilliant one handed save.

Newcastle slowly worked their way back into the game though and in the 24th minute worked a great move which Cisse should have finished off. Sammy Ameobi ran at his defender down the left and swung in a great cross for Yoan Gouffran at the far post who nodded the ball back square for Cisse who must have only been seven yards out but he snatched at the chance and fired well over right footed.

Just a few minutes later and they actually tested Burnley keeper Tom Heaton who had to be on his toes to get his body in the way of Mehdi Abeid's right foot prod after an Ayoze Perez costless kick worked it's way too him.

Just two minutes later though and Burnley went in front. A really simple goal as a long diagonal was played from right to left and Danny Ings managed to knock it down for George Boyd just outside the box and he had the time and space to control with his left foot before drilling one low and hard across Elliot's goal and into the right bottom corner.

At half time Alan Pardew was that disappointed with the first half performance that he made a double substitution with Remy Cabella and Steven Taylor replacing Mike Williamson and Perez. It had an immediate impact as Newcastle levelled just three minutes into the second half. Kieron Trippier did not clear the ball when he had the chance and the ball then found Daryl Janmaat on the right who delivered a sweeping low cross which Gouffran dummied at the near post to fool the defence leaving Cisse to smash into the top left corner right footed from 12 yards.

Newcastle played a lot better in the second half as a whole but neither them or Burnley could create any more serious chances of note no matter what they tried and the game tired out into a 1-1 which seemed to suit both sides.
