Newcastle United will be looking to end a winless run of seven games as they visit relegation-threatened Leicester City at The King Power Stadium.

Although Leicester recently lost to league leaders Chelsea - ending their record consecutive winning streak - Newcastle head coach John Carver has been impressed with their recent revival. The Foxes rose from bottom of the table, seven points adrift of safety, and are now sitting in 17th place on 31 points.

"Four weeks ago Leicester were dead and buried, but Nigel has turned them around and they are in with a chance of staying up," Carver said. "Saturday is a tough game. Leicester are very well-organised, very strong and are a big, physical team. It's the biggest game of the weekend, and huge for both sides. We need to stop this rot and get a result."

Newcastle themselves sit only five points above safety and a win for Leicester could see them go within one point of Carver's side. After their game against Chelsea in midweek, Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is aware of the fatigue issues his side may face this weekend.

"It's important for us to go into the last few games with our destiny in our own hands," he said. "There's still a lot of hard work to be done. At the moment there's a strange perception that there's not. There is. Because it's a quick turnaround and an early kick-off. We'll have to take into consideration the fitness of the players."

With Sunderland sitting just one point behind and with a game in hand, it's vital that Leicester win this weekend as they face two sides sitting below them in their final four games.

As for Newcastle, it's just as important that they win, since three more points could almost guarantee them Premier League football next season.
