Newcastle United will be hoping that another of their January recruits can turn on the style this Wednesday, as they travel to Everton.

Another of their transfer window recruits, Andros Townsend, will be hoping to make his debut for the Magpies and try to help his sides attacking woes.

Their deadline day signing though, Seydou Doumbia, is in a race against time to be involved due to the Ivorian forward waiting for his visa.

The North-East side don't really boast a very good record at Goodison Park in recent meetings, with the away side recording only one win against Everton in their last seven attempts.

Everton have won five of those seven against Newcastle, with only one draw. The record books don't read good for the travelling side and Everton come into the game off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win in the FA Cup.

Both sides' recent Premier League form though leaves a lot to be desired for, with wins hard to come by.

Everton have been the draw specialists recently, with 11 of their 23 league games this season ending on level terms. Roberto Martinez's side though haven't won in the League since the reverse fixture against Newcastle in December.

The Geordies though haven't won away from home since early December - when they defeated Tottenham - where they recorded back-to-back wins in the league.

Team news

Newcastle United: Steve McClaren will be hoping that he can have both Townsend and Doumbia available on Wednesday, with both having a chance to feature. Paul Dummett helps his team out as he returns from a hamstring injury and Jack Colback could also return.

The long-term absentees missing though are Tim Krul, Massadio Haidara, Vurnon Anita and Papiss Cisse. All won't return for Newcastle in the coming weeks, but Haidara may be set to return next month.

Everton: The home side will be without their Deadline Day signing Oumar Niasse, he will not be in the squad because they didn't get the deal done before lunchtime on Monday. First-choice goalkeeper Tim Howard will be facing a late fitness test as he picked up a knock in training this week, he could be a doubt for the game.

Kevin Mirallas has still not returned to the Everton fold due to a tendon injury, while Muhamed Besic is out with a hamstring injury.

Players to watch

Newcastle - Andros Townsend: You can't really look any further than Townsend for this one. The attack-minded midfielder has been itching for first-team football, and after a frustrating season at Tottenham will hope a sustained run in the starting XI is on the cards. The Englishman will be looking to make a statement and prove his worth, you'd expect if given the chance that he will impress.

Everton - Ross Barkley: Another of England's bright young talents has shown some excellent form this season, he netted again at the weekend against Carlisle in the FA Cup. A solid performance from the midfielder will help him to kick on now and he could be a dominant force against Newcastle if given the opportunity to do so.
