Stoke City forward Bojan Krkic has put pen to paper on a new four and a half year deal with the Premier League club.

The 25-year-old has been with the Potters since 2014 after signing from La Liga side Barcelona for an undisclosed fee. Now, he is at the forefront of the revolution at the club that has witnessed manager Mark Hughes sign a host of young talented players, including Ibrahim Afellay and Xherdan Shaqiri.

New contract

Bojan has pledged the next four and a half years of his career to the Potters after signing a contract until the summer of 2020.

Speaking to Stoke City's official website, the forward said he was "happy" and "motivated" before offering his thanks to the club, saying: "I have only words of gratitude for their trust."

The former AS Roma player said the Premier League was "the most competitive league in the world," a league in which the versatile attacker has scored 10 goals across 41 games at the Britannia.

Regarding his current manager Hughes, Bojan was very complimentary, saying he "convinced [him] to come to Stoke." He continued, saying there was "no doubt" that his contract extension was "thanks to him."

The former Champions League winner was also full of praise for his fans who are already full of support for the Spanish Striker, hailing him as a honourary 'Stokie' in his song sung at the Britannia.

"They always support me" he said. He also described them as "passionate" and added he can "feel their warmth" and "support every single day."

Chief Executive Tony Scholes on contract extension

Tony Scholes, the Chief Executive of Stoke City, also gave his views on the player's contract extension and was keen to see him put pen to paper on the deal.

He said Bojan "has made no secret" that he now "regards Stoke City as his home - in a football sense," adding that "it is obvious" that "he has found what he was looking for" at the Britannia.

On the contract signing itself, Scholes said the club were "understandably thrilled." With the season now entering it's final corner, Bojan's contract extension will hopefully give the Potters' fans something to remain positive about as, with no silverware to aim for, retaining one of their best players will have to serve as a shining light on a grey turning season.
