Neither side could find a goal between Leicester and Sunderland so both left with a clean sheet and a point in the East Midlands.

The home started the better and had two decent chances in the first 15 minutes. Leandro Ulloa out jumped Lee Cattermole and flicked on for strike partner Jamie Vardy who got in behind down the left however pushed the ball a little to wide round Costel Pantilimon who blocked the attempted cross from Vardy.

Then ten minutes later the Foxes had a more clearcut opening arrived when Anthony Revielleire gave the ball away deep in his own half to Ryhad Mahrez who delivered an early cross from the right which Jeffery Schulpp met at the far post first time but with his left foot could only find the side netting.

Sunderland eventually settled down though and had two really good chances before half time. First a nice team move which saw Jordi Gomez feed Adam Johnson on the right who then played a lovely through ball for Steven Fletcher who was one on one with Schmeichel only for the Keeper to get a good low hand to the prodded effort and turn it around the post.

Then eight minutes later Johnson was involved again as Sebastian Larsson took a short costless kick to him down the right where he quickly went past Estaban Cambiasso and hit left footed across goal only for Schmeichel to get down really sharply low to his right.

Pantilimon finally had a save to make just four minutes into the second half when Leicester went rout one with Ulloa nodding down for Matty James who burst into the box and hit a powerful right foot shot across goal only for the Romanian stopper to get down well low to his right.

The same combination struck again as James and Ulloa played a neat one two down the left side of the box with the former striking right footed low towards the near post but the keeper got his angles right and denied the midfielder again.

Sunderland's only real chance of the second half came just three minutes after with Adam Johnson involved again in the build up. The winger sprayed a brilliant long cross-field ball to find Fletcher down the right side of the box and despite his first touch being poor he managed to get a powerful left foot shot in but Schmeichel saved well at his near post, beating the ball behind.
