In the reserve fixture, Ronald Koeman's men thrashed Sunderland - with Gus Poyet in charge at the time - by a rather incredible 8-0 scoreline. Three of those goals were in fact own goals scored by Liam Bridcutt, Patrick van Aanholt and Santiago Vergini.

However, this time around the Dutch manager doesn't believe that the Sunderland players will be as helpful in contributing to his side's attack.

"We had unbelievable help from the players of Sunderland," he said. "It was so strange. We didn't play really well. We scored great goals, but the game of this Saturday will be totally different. They have two home games and they need two wins. That means a lot of pressure and we have to prepare for that.

"Dick Advocaat is a man with a lot of experience in difficult circumstances. He will give them the fighting spirit to stay in the Premier League."

As previously mentioned, last time around fellow Dutchman Advocaat was not in charge of the Black Cats. With him in charge, it poses a different challenge for Koeman and his men. With Sunderland just in the relegation zone, they'll have a hunger and desire to claim all three points this Saturday.

Sunderland defender Billy Jones feels confident that his side can beat the drop: "I would like to get six points going into the last two games. That would be our aim, to get those six points as soon as possible and see where that takes us and where we are at that point." he told the Shields Gazette.

"If we win the next game, the whole mood changes again. We go into this game knowing that a win would massively help our cause."
