Queens Park Rangers winger Junior Hoilett could well be granted a quick return to the Premier League as Sunderland are set to table a £2.5 million bid for his services.

Hoilett wanting a move

According to reports from the English media, Hoilett would certainly favour any possible switch away from QPR, as he was not really in either Harry Redknapp or Chris Ramsey's plans during last season, when the team were relegated to the Championship.

Sunderland look to be the only team ready to put in a firm bid for his services, so it seems the agreement of a transfer fee will be the only hurdle in this deal.

The 25 year old Canadian would certainly fit into Sunderland's squad as Dick Advocaat's team  lack pace high up the pitch, and that was attributed as big reason as to why they struggled last year. Something that might concern Black Cats fans is Hoilett's obvious lack of an end product, with him scoring less than 20 goals in his senior career and also him being relegated three times.

Connection between the clubs

Hoilett is not the only Rangers player to be linked with a move to Wearside with fellow midfielders Leroy Fer and Matt Phillips also reported players to have reportedly held talks with the North East club.

Advocaat changing his transfer targets

This report seems to tell us the former Netherlands coach is changing his focus from defence to attack in terms of Sunderland's recurtiment, bearing in mind Sunderland have already spent around £5 million bringing in defenders Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthews within the last week or so.

Along with the likes of John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Patrick Van Aanholt, he may feel like the squad is covered at the back.

Therefore the focus could switch to bringing in attacking players, with specific attention towards players who can create chances rather than put them away as with Steven Fletcher, Connor Wickham and of course Jermain Defoe, Sunderland should be able to score enough if those players are given decent service

Chances of the deal going through?

The possibility of this deal being completed is thought to be fairly high, as Hoilett is not in favour at QPR so they could be happy to let him go for the low fee Sunderland are reportedly going to offer.

The winger would certainly love to remain a Premier League player, and Sunderland's lack of wide options mean he should get a chance in the team.
