Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has praised the hierarchy at the club, as the Black Cat’s close in on deals for Yann M’Vila and Leroy Fer.

Both of the midfielders are expected to complete their moves to the Stadium of Light by the middle of the week with M’Vila expected on Wearside today to complete his medical after a loan deal, with the option to make it permanent at the end of the season, was agreed.

Fer will arrive just on loan from newly relegated Queens Park Rangers to remove the Dutch international from their wage bill, similarly to Steven Caulker’s loan move to fellow Premier League side Southampton.

Advocaat greatful

Advocaat has praised the actions of both sporting director Lee Congerton and owner Ellis Short in the transfer market saying that the chairman is “doing great” in terms of supporting him.

The Dutchman has said that he is willing to do “everything” he can for the team and has been “very positive” when they have met.

A striking shake-up

The moves for M’Vila and Fer are being majorly financed by the sale of striker Connor Wickham, who has completed a £9million move to Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old isn’t the only one that has been linked with a move away from the North-East, with other strikers Steven Fletcher and Danny Graham also linked with a move away as they both enter the final year of their contracts.

Sunderland have been very busy so far this transfer window with; Sebastian Coates, Adam Matthews, Jeremain Lens and Younes Kaboul all making moves to the club, with Advocaat still looking to add at least another striker to his squad.

A number of names have been linked with a move, but some have since been shot down, the Black Cats are reportedly not interested in Blackburn’s Jordan Rhodes and Fenerbahce's Moussa Sow despite fresh links with latter.

They have reportedly been offered former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, but the club are unlikely to follow up the interest.
