At the third time of asking, Sunderland will hope to get a point on the board when they host Swansea City this weekend.

Nightmare start

The facts speak for themselves for Sunderland after opening fortnight of the season, as it's two defeats out of two with seven goals conceded for Dick Advocat's team, leaving them rock bottom of the Premier League.

It was stated before the start of the season that Sunderland needed to get off to a quick start and make the most of some favourable looking opening fixtures, however these games have seen them not only beaten by Leicester City and Norwich City, but outclassed by teams that were expected to struggle this year.

Biggest issue

On the pitch you can't look too much further than a back four who look alien to the concept of defending as a unit. Billy Jones, Sebastian Coates, Younes Kaboul and Patrick Van Aanholt have looked incredibly shaky in the Black Cats first two games, especially the last of those names with the left back recieving a lot of stick off the fans for his shocking performances, Advocaat has hinted at changes this week and surely must follow through with that idea.

Swansea's fortunes

Swansea are really a team that Sunderland should be striving to rival at the moment, with Gary Monk's team playing attractive football and sitting in a comfortable mid-table position. The Welsh outfit looked very easy on the eye as they claimed a 2-2 draw at champions Chelsea on the opening day, before seeing off Sunderland's local rivals Newcastle United 2-0 last week in their home opener.

The attacking players Swansea have at their disposal strike fear into the hearts of their opponents, with Jefferson Montero and Andre Ayew out wide linking up well with striker Bafetimbi Gomis, who along with Ayew have shared Swansea's four goals this season.

Team news

Advocaat will be expected to make changes after the horror show of the first two weeks, especially to the back four with Adam Matthews on either flank and John O'Shea down the middle pushing to start. Younes Kaboul is a fitness doubt for this one so Advocaat's mind might be made up.

Elsewhere, Jordi Gomez is nearing a return in midfield but will not be risked for this one, whist young starlet Duncan Watmore may be in contention after his debut goal off the bench last week.

Swansea's only doubt surrounds a former Sunderland midfielder in the form of Ki Sung-Yeung, after the hamstring injury he picked up on the opening day.
