Emanuele Giaccherini is "not a player for England" according to his manager, Dick Advocaat.

The Sunderland misfit has been linked with a move away from Wearside this week, with a return to his home land and the Serie A a highly possibility, especially after newly-promoted side Bologna expressed their interest in the 30-year-old.

Giaccherini has been left out of both of Sunderland's matchday squads ths season, despite being fully fit for the most recent Norwich City fixture, and thus it seems the writing is on the wall for a player whose time in England has been plagued by injuries.

Advocaat comments on situation, saying Giaccherini not suited for the Premier League

Speaking to the press ahead of today's game against Swansea City, Advocaat was quizzed on the current situation regarding Giaccherini and admitted that, via Shields Gazette, he "understand[s] the interest from Italy" as the attacker "is a great talent" with "a good touch" and "good passing."

However, the Dutchman believes that these are things that "you don't get the time to do...in England," which is why "Giaccherini is not a player for England."

He believes that 30-year-old will be "a great player" in "Italy and Spain," where the pace of the game is a little shower, "but not for [Sunderland]."

Player looking to leave

Giaccherini is keen to leave the club this summer too, according to his agent, Furio Valcareggi.

The former Juventus man "really wants to be [at Euro 2016]" and thus is looking for a team where he will be granted playing time having already "lost all of last year" due to injury, Valcareggi has stated, via the Sunderland Echo.

He left the Old Lady back in 2013 because he was granted more playing time in England with the Black Cats, appearing 32 times in his debut season and scoring five goals. Yet, it seems unlikely that this form will return, with Advocaat not confident in the player's ability to perform in the Premier League.

The club are happy to let him move on, with the manager coming out and saying that anyone who "asks to go, can go," but negotiations are speculated to have stalled between Sunderland and Bologna due to the Wearside outfit's £5 million asking price.
