Former USA national team coach, Bob Bradley has announced his interest in taking over managerless Premier League side Sunderland

Surprise contender

Rumours emerged on Wednesday that the American had emerged as a surprise contender for the hot seat at the Stadium of Light. Bradley has impressed during his time in Norway with Stabaek as he managed to take the relegation favourites to mid-table aswell as a cup semi-final. He has further kicked the team on this season as they currently sit second in the Tippelagen

Sunderland is a possiblity

Rumours continued to grow when the managing director of the Norweigan club stated that Bradley is free to talk the Black Cats and has been the first manager to publicly throw his hat into the ring for the job on Wearside saying that a club like Sunderland might be a "possibility" but insisted that "a lot of managers" will be eager to take role.

He went onto say that he was being realisitic about the possiblity saying that despite the "list of candidates" he is still "confident" and that he "believes" in his ability as a coach and will "give everything" to any scenario.

Numerous candidates

Bradley is one the many names that have been thrown around in the last few days since the departure of Dick Advocaat after the 2-2 draw with West Ham United last Saturday. Sean Dyche, Nigel Pearson, Harry Redknapp and David Moyes have all been linked but have all subsequently put themselves out of the running or have not been approached by the club.

Poyet approves

The favourite since the Dutchman's departure has been former West Ham and Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce who was heavily linked with the job in the summer before Advocaat decided to return. Former manager Gus Poyet has given his possible appointment his approval saying that Allardyce should be "Sunderland's next appointment". The Uruguyan went on to say that he has previous "experience" in the North-East and knows the top flight of English football "inside out" and knows exactly what a team needs to do to "stay in the Premier League."

Sunderland fans will be hopeful that a repalcement will be found before their next match againmst West Brom on Saturday, October 17 with kick-off at 3PM BST.
