After beating Everton comfortably on Wednesday night, Sunderland can finally relax knowing that they will be playing Premier League football again next season.

As the senior players get ready for their summer holidays, Sam Allardyce plans to give the younger members of his squad a run out on the final day of the season.

Allardyce's decision

Each Premier League place is worth £1.2m in prize money but whatever result occurs on Sunday, Sunderland will finish 17th for this campaign. With that in mind, Allardyce is set to allow some of his younger players to make a rare top flight start.

The manager says he feels it is a 'great opportunity' and hopes the young players will 'stand up' on the big occasion.

Allardyce admitted other owners may have blocked his decision to rotate the squad in such a big way but Ellis Short has no problem with the decision to play a younger side this weekend.

Who may feature?

Jordan Pickford may be in line for his second Premier League start of the season, especially now first choice 'keeper Vito Mannone has been linked with a potential call-up to the Italy squad for Euro 2016 this summer.

Duncan Watmore, who has already established himself as a future star, may be in line for his first start since February.

Defender Tommy Robson is also highly-rated and may start ahead of Patrick van Aanholt.

Who to watch out for

A few of the names on the teamsheet come Sunday will already be well known by fans, however for those who do not know much about Sunderland's youth system, there a few names to keep an eye out for.

Rees Greenwood is widely liked amongst backroom staff at Sunderland and he is likely to break onto the scene sooner rather than later. A very grounded and skillful player for his age.

George Honeyman is another player who fans should watch out for. Josh Maja is an 18-year-old who is also likely to feature this weekend.
