Swansea City will be looking to put the harrowing experience of their 5-0 drubbing at home to Chelsea behind them with a victory against Championship side Blackburn in the day's early kick-off.

The Swans' last victory came in this competition with a 6-2 victory over Tranmere at the start of January, but both sides have endured a mixed bag of results in recent weeks. Blackburn are winless in four in the league, and the visitors haven't tasted victory in the Premier League in 2015, when they won back-to-back games against strugglers Hull and Aston Villa.

Blackburn defender Tommy Spurr, who hasn't made an appearance this season due to a groin injury, could be in line for a surprise first start of the season. Forward Rudy Gestede's future has been in question recently, but the Frenchman is Rovers' top scorer this term and may be restated into the starting line-up.

New man Kyle Naughton is likely to start for Swansea following his £5million move from Spurs, but Wayne Routledge and Ashley Williams will not feature due to injury. Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero and former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey are looking to return to the team after injury and suspension respectively, while Bafétimbi Gomis is to set about making Wilfried Bony's starting spot his own.

Swansea have the better overall record in meetings between these sides, and ran out 3-0 winners last time out, back in 2012. However, the two previous encounters were both won by this weekend's hosts, with Rovers scoring four on both occasions. With both sides' main forwards having something of a point to prove, recent history suggests the goals could flow at Ewood Park.

Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer believes his side can cause an upset and is looking forward to rekindling some of the 'magic of the Cup'. "The players have worked very hard this week in training and you get the feeling there's a sense of excitement because we are playing another Premier League team like we did last year against Manchester City," he said.

"Nobody expects us, except ourselves in the dressing room, to go out and cause a shock. That is the beauty of the FA Cup and why it appeals so much to the supporters and to the players and the staff here now."

Meanwhile, Swansea's Scotland U21 international midfielder is looking to make his fifth appearance of the season, having featured against Tranmere in the previous round. “Starting a game in a really competitive competition such as the FA Cup is a chance to show what you’re capable of," he enthused.

“It went well in the last round, we scored quite a few goals and the team played very well as a unit. I’ve trained as hard as I can and I’m thankful to the manager for giving me a chance to play, and hopefully I’ll get a chance to play some part this weekend.”
