Swansea midfielder Wayne Routledge is expected to miss the rest of the season after picking up an ankle injury.

The winger who missed out on Swansea’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle on Saturday has had surgery on a long-standing ankle injury and is expected to miss the remaining games against; Stoke, Arsenal, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

Routledge has been a regular in Gary Monk’s side this season making 27 starts so far this season and signed a one-year extension back in September keeping him at the Liberty Stadium until 2018.

Swansea have had another excellent season and that win at St James’ Park which saw them reach to the 50-point mark for the first time in their Premier League history.

The Welsh side have been forced to recall winger Modou Barrow from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest after Ecuadorian midfielder Jefferson Montero picked up a thigh injury at the weekend.
