The 25-year-old forward had a successful spell with the French side as he was one of the most important players in Marcelo Bielsa's team. Ayew will arrive at Liberty Stadium looking to left the void left by Ivorian international Wilfred Bony, who signed for Manchester City in January.

Andre Ayew had been with Olympique Marseille since 2006 but his current contract expired this month. He scored 52 goals in 181 appearances for les Phocéens over his career and he was particularly effective this season - where he found the back of the net 11 times in 30 games across all competitions.

Ayew speaks about his move to Wales

Ayew had already said he wanted to move away from the French side in May and he hinted that he had offers from Italy, Spain and England but he said that "the Premier League is, by far, the most attractive league in the world". He previously held talks with QPR but since they were relegated, he decided to join Swansea City instead.

"I felt it was the right place for me", Ayew said in an interview. He added that he "felt that desire to play in the Premier League" and "wanting to grow as a player" meant that Swansea was his number one destination, admitting it was "the best solution for me in every way".

He continued, citing "the honesty and desire of the club" swung things in their favour and they gave him the felling that "they really wanted me to come". Ayew confirmed, "they have proven that in all ways."

Will he perform better than Bony?

Swansea signed the attacker for free, and rewarded him with a four-year deal - reportedly totaling €13m. He's expected to fill the goal-gap by the departure of Bony as the replacement for this past season - Benfica loanee Nelson de Oliveira - wasn't very effective and he has returned to Portugal.

Andre Ayew has represented Ghana 62 times and he has netted 11 times for The Black Stars.
