Swansea City boss Alan Curtis has stated that key man André Ayew is not for sale.

The manager was drawn on the subject following speculation of interest from Sunderland for the player, with some media outlets even reporting that a bid in the region of £14 million had been launched by the Black Cats - and swiftly declined by the Swans.

However, Curtis' comments suggested that this is nothing but rumours, with him dubbing it as simply "talk" before clarifying that they do not want to sell Ayew at all.

Simply rumours

Speaking to the media following Swansea's 1-0 win over Watford on Monday night, the manager was blunt about the possibility of Ayew departing, dismissing it promptly.

Curtis acknowledged, via ESPN, that there has been "talk" that the Ghanaian international could be "going to Sunderland" - or at least that they could be "making a bid" for the player.

However, he continued, saying that Swansea "wouldn't even entertain that" given the importance of the forward to the team.

With seven goals this season, one of which came against Sunderland last week, Ayew is "one of a number of big players" for the Swans as they endure a tough season, and so there is no chance the club will sell.

No-one is for sale

It's not only Ayew that isn't for sale though, but no-one in the squad, according to Curtis.

He revealed that Swansea "don't want to lose anybody during the window," with Jonjo Shelvey having already departed to join fellow strugglers Newcastle United earlier this month.

Instead, it's all about incomings, with the manager saying that they "want to bring people in."

Nonetheless, the team must be prepared for the worst, and so if they are unable to recruit this month, "it's important no one else goes out through the door" - though he did add that the team "will get somebody in."
