Sky Sports have reported that Tim Sherwood will depart White Hart Lane after just 6 months in charge.

Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas as first team manager on December 23 after a poor run of results. He was promoted from U-21's manager and after holding out for an 18 month deal he was given the job. He started off well, winning 5 of first 6 games.

It seems he will now be leaving once the season has come to an end, just 6 months after he got his first senior management role.

Speaking to Sky Sports before his side's Premier League encounter with relegation strugglers, Sunderland, he said: "I can't say much right now. What I can say is tonight is business as usual.

"I'm setting this team up to win a football match for the benefit of the club and the 35,000 Spurs fans who will come and look. I'll speak at a later stage."

Sherwood has won just 11 and lost nine of his 23 games in charge. The poor run of results has seen his side crash out of the Europa League to Benfica and see them drop to 7th in the Premier League.

Alan Curbishley said that Sherwood was right to take the job and push for an 18 month contract but felt he was paying the price for the poor run of results.

"There may be managers in work who may now look at the situation and say 'I fancy Spurs'," Curbishley said, speaking to Sky Sports News.

"If you're offered the situation, then you have got to take it and I think Tim was a bit wary of it. I think he thought there was no point taking the job just until the end of the season - that would have been a no-win situation for him.

"He held out for an 18-month contract, a little bit more security, so it wasn't a short-term situation. These jobs don't come around that often and you do have to take them if you really want to be a Premier League manager.

"If the results had been better and Tottenham were in the top four, then I think Tim Sherwood could still have been the manager going forward."

Curbishley added: "I think only Daniel Levy can tell you the sort of manager they need - over the years he has gone down a couple of different routes.

"There may be managers out there who are in work who fancy the Tottenham job now there is a vacancy and will put their names forward."

Louis van Gaal is favourite to replace Sherwood at White Hart Lane in the summer. The Holland manager is set to depart the national team after this year's World Cup in Brazil. Southampton manager, Mauricio Pochettino is also up there as one of the favourites with Frank De Boer (Ajax) and Jurgen Klinsmann (USA National Team manager) - All in accordance to SkyBet.
