Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a final bid for French international Morgan Schneiderlin before switching targets.

Mauricio Pochettino is determined to land the midfielder who he worked with last season, for a fee believed to be around £17 million.

Schneiderlin, 24, is said to be increasingly frustrated at Southampton following the departures of key names at St Mary's Stadium.

Following the Saints 2-1 defeat at Anfield, Ronald Koeman reiterated that Schneiderlin is not for sale.

"He's a player of Southampton," the Dutchman told reporters, "He wants to play for us, his mentality changed last week. He was tired in the last 10 minutes but he is a good player and he is important for us."

Following the sales of Ricky Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers, the Saints have made over £90m in sales and will be reluctant to let another one of their stars leave.

Spurs are not the only club who are in search for a midfielder. North London rivals, Arsenal had an offer rejected for the 24-year old star.
