Tottenham welcome Greek side Asteras Tripolis to White Hart Lane on match day three of the Europa League. The visitors are surprisingly topping Group C after drawing in Turkey, and beating Partizan in Greece. Tottenham essentially need to win this game as two draws from two leaves them third, and Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to acquire all six points from this double header with Staikos Vergetis's side.

Tottenham have only managed to register four goals since their 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest towards the end of September which has sparked more calls from the White Hart Lane faithful wanting the Tottenham hierarchy to invest in an under performing attack in January. Asteras Tripolis will prove difficult to break down having only conceded one goal in their first two group games. The Greek side also boast an impressive home record of six games unbeaten which again emphasises the importance of this upcoming home fixture for the North Londoners.

Mauricio Pochettino has said he is aware of the threat Asteras pose, speaking to BBC Sport he said "We expect a tough game, they are a very dynamic team."  Tottenham centre half Jan Vertonghen has been rumored with a move away from the club, but is expected to start against the Greek outift and Pochettino has dismissed the rumours circulating the Belgian ; "Jan is an important player for Tottenham, he is happy at Tottenham. Maybe sometimes he wants to play more but I have to take a decision. He is happy and I'm happy with him. I know players are sometimes affected by comment or rumours and they call me about the rumours but Jan is a very important player for Tottenham and for me."

Federico Fazio was sent off at Manchester City but is eligible to play this evening, Kyle Naughton is still out with an ankle problem while Kyle Walker is also absent due to a long term injury, Pochettino has also confirmed Nabil Bentaleb will miss the tie, saying "Nabil is injured and we hope he recovers as soon as possible". The Greeks side are set to be without striker Ziguy Badibanga, defender Dorin Goian and midfielder Eric Tie Bi.

Asteras midfielder Giorgos Zisopoulos spoke to the clubs website pre game, stating how tough a challenge it will be for him and his teammates, "We play in a big Stadium against a great team, but apart from the impressions we want a good result. We look at every match separately. This is a very difficult game. We need to have the maximum concentration in the match and in the end we will see what we can get from it.  We had a great trip, difficult, but when you get on the pitch I will forget all that. We will play in a nice Stadium against a great team. Don't think the tiredness and the next match. Just thinking about tomorrow's match with Tottenham and we will give our best "

In a game which Asteras don't necessarily need to get a result from due to their impressive start, anything out of this game would be a huge huge bonus for the Greek visitors, failure to win for Tottenham would leave them in a sticky position, with a trip to Greece and Turkey still awaiting them.
