Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane feels Diego Costa’s absence could be the difference in their upcoming clash with Chelsea, visiting the league leaders on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently on a three-game winning streak, following an imposing 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday, with influential striker Kane in the form of his life.

We're full of confidence. We are coming off three wins in a row now in all competitions, so we'll take that confidence into the game on Wednesday.

With their high-pressing causing the Toffee’s a wealth of problems, Roberto Martinez’s side struggled to cope with the demand from the Tottenham strikeforce.

Spurs have failed to take all three points from Stamford Bridge since February 1990, but the Englishman feels they are optimistic they can overcome Jose Mourinho’s side, who remain unbeaten after 13 league games. He said:

"We're full of confidence. We are coming off three wins in a row now in all competitions, so we'll take that confidence into the game on Wednesday."

"We're looking to get the result. Obviously Chelsea are going to be trying to do the same at home, but they are missing their main man up front. So they have to change a few things, and we're feeling good.

"The Chelsea game is not the be-all or end-all, but it would add to the great momentum we have at the moment if we could beat them. That is what we want to do and we will give ourselves the best possible chance."

Kane revealed that the training regime of the North London club have helped the side comprehensively, and was delighted to see their work pay off against the Merseyside club – who now sit in 10th place. He added:

"We have been working hard, getting our shape together and sliding together, pressing high up the pitch. I thought we did that well and obviously it worked well because we got the result in the end.

"We have been working on it recently. We're getting used to it more, getting fitter. I thought the lads worked very hard. You saw in the first half we were out of the blocks, trying to get the ball back high up the pitch and that's how we got our second goal."

I am delighted for Roberto to get his goal. He has been a tad unlucky in the recent games, so it means a lot to him to get on the scoresheet.

The fixture also saw Spanish striker Roberto Soldado net the winner – ending a 593-minute goal drought having previously made a big-money move from Valencia. His striking partner was ecstatic to see his teammate find the back of the net, commenting:

"I am delighted for Roberto to get his goal. He has been a tad unlucky in the recent games, so it means a lot to him to get on the scoresheet.

"Obviously the lads are very happy for him and hopefully he can push on and get a few more."

21-year-old Kane has scored nine goals in 16 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur this season, having also made a brief stint as a goalkeeper.
