Tottenham have been knocked out of the Europa League last 16 after two second half goals from Mario Gomez and Mohammed Salah fired down a poor Spurs side away in Florence to win the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

The opening moment of the game came in the 11th minute when Eriksen was brought down in the penalty box by Savic, but the referee pointed to the corner flag and Spurs were awarded a corner rather than a penalty. Soldado and Chadli could have had opened the scoring for the visitors when Soldado played a brilliant ball to Chadli to put him though on goal, but the Spaniard underhit his pass to his team-mate, allowing Neto to gather the ball when a goal seemed almost certain.

Finally in the 54th minute, Mario Gomez opened the scoring, it came from a Fazio gifted the ball to Badelj on the halfway line and the midfielder played through a sprinting Mario Gomez who fired a great low shot past Lloris to give Fiorentina the a 2-1 aggregate, Salah almost doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when the on loan Chelsea winger was played though on goal but his powerful strike went straight off the legs of Lloris, however in the 70th minute, Salah found the target after another terrible defensive error from Spurs saw the ball set up for Salah on a plate and the Egyptian winger hammered the ball past a stretching Lloris to all but guarantee Fiorentina’s place in the last 16. Harry Kane thought he had made the score 2-1 after he tapped the ball into an empty net from two yards out, but the English striker was flagged for offside. Eriksen almost salvaged a goal back for the visitors but his clever shot well saved by Neto in the 85th minute.
