Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised his 21-year-old English striker Harry Kane for his goal-scoring form, which has propelled Spurs into having a decent chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next year.

He completed a clinical brace against London rivals Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, in the weekend's only Premier League fixture as Tottenham narrowly edged out a 2-1 victory at Loftus Road, with England manager Roy Hodgson in attendance. Kane himself has now scored 26 goals in all competitions, and has spearheaded Pochettino's men when they've needed it.

Pochettino said this, in regards to Kane's impressive display: "It was a fantastic performance, he scored two goals. He is young, can improve more and now it is Roy's decision."

On being called up to the England senior side: "I don't know if (he deserves a call-up.) Roy needs to decide whether this is the time to pick him or not; I think that today was a great game, a great performance. We showed character, I am very pleased for our players. I think it was a fantastic performance in a very, very difficult game because QPR are a team who are very brave and the way they play is difficult to stop.

On the team's overall response to recent results: "It is a very, very good response, I am very happy for them, very pleased for them. After two defeats in Florence and in the Capital One Cup against Chelsea, the performance was fantastic against Swansea [and at QPR]. For that, they deserve two days off and to start training again on Tuesday.
