The pre-season tournament, held every two years, will be an extremely difficult test for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they bid to improve on their fifth placed Premier League finish in the 2014/15 season, and Europa League qualification.

Completing the line-up for the prestigious summer event will be hosts Bayern Munich, Italian giants AC Milan and Real Madrid, who will be led out by newly appointed manager Rafael Benitez. The match against Madrid will likely see Spurs come up against two former White Hart Lane idols in Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

The London club will kick off the tournament against Real Madrid on the 4th, followed by AC Milan versus Bayern Munich two hours later. The winners of each match will compete for the Audi Cup the following day (5th August) whilst the two losers fight it out for third and fourth spot.

The Tottenham players, management team and fans will all be hoping for a good showing from their side, with the Premier League season kicking off just three days later (on the 8th August).

Following a short break for the players, having faced a Malaysia XI and Sydney FC in post-season friendly matches, Pochettino’s side will also travel to Colorado on the 29th July to take part in the annual MLS all-stars match. The team consisting of the best players in the MLS will pit Spurs up  against the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Spurs legend Robbie Keane.

Pochettino will be hoping to quickly follow up the signing of Kevin Wimmer with further editions to strengthen his squad. Regardless of who is and isn’t at White Hart Lane when the Audi Cup kicks off, however, it is sure to prove a stern test for all four teams involved.
