The transfer of Kevin Trapp from Frankfurt has left the competition for both the German and number one goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, Salvatore Sirigu. While AS Roma is reportedly interested in the Italian goalkeeper, Tottenham are also among the 'keeper's reported suitors - according to talkSPORT.

The Story

With reports that Iker Casillas is on his way to Porto, that suggests that Manchester United's David de Gea would replace him at Real Madrid, leading into the theory that Hugo Lloris could leave Tottenham this summer, leaving Sirigu could be the perfect replacement for the North Londoners. The transfer of Trapp puts pressure on Sirigu, despite the fact that he made 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season as the club's No.1, the arrival of the German could force him to the substitutes' bench for the coming season as manager Laurent Blanc does not have the idea of playing them in a regular rotation role.

Reports in France have also suggested that he could seek a move away regardless of where he goes, despite being under contract for another three years.

The Future

The 28-year-old is in his prime and surely a successor to replace Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus as the starting goalkeeper for the Italian national team in the not-too-distant future, but regardless of what his future will foretell, he's been absolutely impressive for the side in the French capital. In his four years at the club, he's won the league three times, the French League Cup twice and the French Cup as well as being known as the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 with his two awards to confirm that and was apart of the Team of the Year two times.

A perfect replacement for the French national team captain would be something that Pochettino should consider - with consistency, strength, composure, mentality, and his reflexes that remind him of a modern day Buffon, he wouldn't come cheap but would be worth pursuing for sure.
