Mauricio Pochettino has stated that it is “obvious” that his Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are in need of a striker.

They currently have star striker Harry Kane who scored 31 goals last season, however, Emmanuel Adebayor is out of favour and they have sold Roberto Soldado back to Spain with La Liga side Villarreal.

Pochettino identifies targets

That has left their options limited but Pochettino has insisted that he has “identified” his targets  put his faith in chairman Daniel Levy saying he working “very hard” to bring new players to White Hart Lane but has stated that it is “obvious” that they needed to add to their “offensive options”.

Berahino bid rejected

One long-term target for Spurs has been West Brom’s Sadio Berahino. The 22-year-old, who scored 20 goals last season, was subject to a bid from the North London club earlier week which was subsequently rejected.

West Brom chairman, Jeremy Pearce has stated the club's intention to keep the England Under-21 forward saying that they have “no interest” in selling Berahino which is a decision that is not on their “agenda”.

Tottenham travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon to face Leicester City with just one point to their name.

They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on the opening day before been denied the three points in a 2-2 draw with Stoke City last weekend.

However, Pochettino isn’t worried about their early season performance with the Argentine saying that they should assess their position after “10 games”.

Spurs need consistency

Pochettino has said that people will talk about the need of “offensive” players, but the 43-year-old has stated that they need to be “more consistent” as they conceded “a lot” of goals last campaign.

Tottenham will be hosted by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, August 22 with kick-off at 3 PM BST.
