Harry Kane grabbed a brace following Dele Alli's opening goal as Tottenham Hotspur saw off a disappointing Norwich City side at Carrow Road, moving up to third place in the Premier League.

Whilst the result might not send shockwaves through England, it was another mightily impressive performance by Spurs, one that sent them above North London rivals Arsenal in the table.

Alli gets the ball rolling early on

It didn't take long for Mauricio Pochettino's side to take an expected lead, with Dele Alli netting his seventh league goal of the season after just three minutes of play. The away side were quickly into their stride, with Alli poaching on a Declan Rudd save following a corner to tap in and make it 0-1.

With Jan Vertonghen sidelined after picking up an injury, Kevin Wimmer stepped in at the heart of the Tottenham defence, and that did give Norwich the momentum to create one or two chances despite going behind so early.

Dieumerci Mbokani found space on the edge of the area to get a shot away, however he could only send the ball into Hugo Lloris' grateful arms. Matt Jarvis also threatened, latching onto a loose ball, only to send a volley flying over the bar.

Up at the other end, Alli almost had another as an over-hit cross of his dropped just over the crossbar, whilst Heung Min-Son almost doubled the lead, sending a shot into the side-netting from close range.

Kane penalty doubles the lead

The man who played the ball for Son, Harry Kane, was soon on hand to make it 0-2, scoring from the penalty spot. The two main men were involved in winning the penalty, Kane's shot saved before Alli was brought down going for another rebound, and the striker made no mistake in sending Rudd the wrong way.

Norwich's hopes of getting any sort of a result were fading fast, and Kane was at the races a few minutes later, hitting the post in a bid to get his teams third goal. Easing off the threat of new signing Iva Pinto, the striker saw his left footed effort bounce back off the woodwork.

Tottenham dominant against lacklusture Canaries

Alex Neil's side look like they've lost whatever early momentum they've had, and it was an extremely easy night for Pochettino's men. A number of players could have got on the scoresheet, with the result never in doubt, things being so comfortable that Alli was taken off at half-time.

Christian Eriksen's stinging effort and Kane hitting the post for a second time were the best chances the visitors could produce until the final few minutes, with a header from Steven Naismith going just wide, in what was a decent chance at the other end.

The third, and final, goal of the same did come eventually, with Kane unsurprisingly adding to his penalty. Good pressing from Eriksen forced a mistake in the Canaries defence, allowing Kane to race clear before finishing on his left foot.
