Watford are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer, with Napoli wing-back Juan Camilo Zuniga set to put pen to paper at Vicarage Road.

That is according to reports in Italy, and throughout the summer, the Hornets have been linked with a move for the defender.

New Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri worked with the Colombian international for four years at Napoli, and it seems like he is keen on linking back up with the wing-back.

Zuniga would fit into new formation

With the formation that is set to take priority under the new coach, he will be playing wing-backs in a 3-5-2 system, and Zuniga certainly fits the bill, so to speak.

The Colombian started his career at Atletico Nacional, and made 130 appearances in his homeland before moving to Serie A.

Siena was his next destination, where he made 28 appearances during his single season there before Napoli approached the wing-back and took him to the Stadio San Paolo.

He has been in Naples for seven years now, making 125 appearances along the way, but for a spell last season he played six games for Bologna on loan.

Watford close to fourth signing of summer

The 30-year-old is under contract with Napoli for another season, but a fee of around €1 million could be enough to lure Zuniga to the Premier League.

So far, the Hornets have been busy this summer, bringing in Isaac Success for a club-record fee, Jerome Sinclair arrived from Liverpool and Christian Kabasele signed from Genk.

Mazzarri’s players returned to the club for pre-season training at the start of the week, and with the new singings it is clear to see his intentions for the coming season.

The Hornets will be looking to improve on their mid-table finish last season, especially with a new coach in charge, and a whole new system, which will take shape throughout pre-season.
