Salomon Rondon spared West Brom’s blushes last night as he scored a last gasp equaliser against relegation rivals Swansea City.

A situation that is still tense

However, the one person that was at the forefront at every Baggies’ mind was Saido Berahino.

Despite receiving bids from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Stoke City, the troubled striker remained at West Brom.

The youngster is set for clear-the-air talks with chairman Jeremy Peace and is likely to be a key figure in West Brom’s bid for survival.

Pulis positive in spite of contract rumours

The striker was left on the bench for last night’s 1-1 draw and came on as a substitute on the 62nd minute, however manager Tony Pulis has reiterated that Berahino’s future is at The Hawthorns.

Pulis said: “It will down die now, don't worry about that. They can do nothing about it."

He continued, “He has got 18 months to two years left on his contract, we've got an option on that as well."

Pulis looked upon his impact in a positive sense, "I know he has got a little bit of a dead leg but he has run around and done well for us.”

Pulis desperate to keep his star youngster

The Welshman stated his desire for Berahino to stay at the club, “We want the kid to stay."

He admitted that the club "need[s] someone like Saido to get those goals", especially when they have been "lacking goals like [WBA] have done over the last couple of months".

The Baggies could do with Berahino’s clinical finishing as they have struggled to put the ball in the net of late.

Albion mustered 18 shots last night but only one of them made its way past Lukasz Fabianski.

Foster praised up return

The boss also paid tribute to Ben Foster, who has just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“The way Swansea play you knew the game was going to be open but you also have to concede that they are going to get opportunities as well," said Pulis.

"Ben [Foster] has made two good saves," he added.

Pulis concluded, "Overall we're disappointed with the opportunities, chances and the clear-cut chances we've had, not to get more than one goal."
