The match started off slow, but a 73rd minute goal from Rondon sealed the match for West Brom.

GOAL WEST BROM! 1-0!

At the half, it's 0-0 between Crystal Palace and West Brom.

45: One minute added on.

42: Jedinak is fouled by Berahino earning a free kick.

We've been seeing some great plays from Crystal Palace, but very little from West Brom.

40: Gardner's corner goes past Phillips to Rondon who heads well wide, but misses the net.

James Tomkins just tweeted "Gutted not to be involved in the first game, wishing the lads all the best!"

37: The referee awards West Brom a free-kick as Puncheon's corner goes into the box.

36: Puncheon's free-kick gets headed behind for a Palace corner.

33: Another corner for Crystal Palace goes low, towards the near-post.

31: McAuley manages to clear a Townsend cross to earn a Palace corner.

This match, in my opinion, has been calm.

28: Crystal Palace gets their first shot on target, but Foster manages to stop it.

25: Yacob annoys Jedinak with a challenge and the midfielder reacts by clattering him.

23: Fletcher plays Rondon through but his shot is half a yard offside

We've seen very little action so far in this match.

18: Berahino's header goes wide from a Rondon cross.

13: A close shot by Wickham comes close, but doesn't hit the net.

11: Berahino is flagged offside

6: Matt Phillips carries out a low cross for Salomon Rondon, who wins a corner.

5: A cross from Rondan is blocked easily by Dann.

West Brom finished 14th last season, and Crystal Palace finished 15th.

And we're underway!

It looks cloudy here at Selhurst Park, but the game must go on!

Once again, I'm Nick Gazerro, and I'll be bringing you minute-by-minute commentary of the Crystal Palace West Brom match from Selhurst Park. You can tweet me during the match at @ng46

The teams are coming out of the tunnel, and it's almost time for kickoff!

10 minutes 'till kickoff!

We're now about 20 minutes 'till kickoff at Selhurst Park!

Both teams will be looking for a strong start to the 2016-2017 season, after finishing last season poorly. The Baggies will look to improve after a 14th place finish last season, finshing just a point ahead of Crystal Palace.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has admitted that he is having a difficult time with signing players, mostly becasue of the recent Chinese takeover of the club, and the fact that West Bromwich still need to sign five more players before the end of the transfer window. "We need to get on front foot" said Pulis in a statement. "The club has been stagnant for a while. With new oweners you hope and pray the backing comes to take this club on. This has been the most difficult club to manage that I've ever had. It s very important we focus. We have to try to get moving and get players in."

Crystal Palace haven't won their first match at home since the Premier League was founded in 1992, whilst West Brom conceded the least goals last season outside any Premier League side in the top six (48).

A bad omen for Crystal Palace is that they lost to Manchester United in the FA Cup final last season, and the last two runners up (Aston Villa and Hull City) were relegated the next season.

Crystal Palace only lost once in nine pre-season friendlies, while West Brom struggled themselves, losing three pre-season friendlies. West Brom didn't win any of their last nine matches last season, while Palace only picked up two wins in their last 21 matches.

West Brom manager Tony Pullis will make his return to Selhurst Park for the third time since he left Crystal Palace at the start of the 2014-2015 season. West Brom enter the match with a better record between the two since Crystal Palace returned to the Premier League, winning four matches and losing two.

For Crystal Palace, Bakary Sako and Fraizer Campbell are both out of the match, with Sako suffering a ankle injury, and Campbell with a muscle injury. West Brom have a full squad for the match, with only one injury in vice-captain Christ Brunt, who will be replaced with Matt Phillips, who will make his debut for the club.

Kane Wilson, at just 16 years old, could be the fouth-youngest Premier League player all-time, if he starts this afternoon for West Brom.

Feel free to tweet me at @ng46 during the match as well. I should also note that this is my first time during text commentary for VAVEL, so I'm pretty excited today.

The subs for Crystal Palace are: Speroni, Kelly, Ledley, Cabaye, Bolasie, Ladapd, Anderson.

For Crystal Palace, the starters are: Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Square, Jedinak, Puncheon, Zaha, Lee, Townsend, Wickham.

Here is the starting lineup for West Brom: Foster; Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Evans; Gardner, Fletcher (c), Yacob, Phillips; Rondon, Berahino
