West Ham United have completed their sixth signing of the summer, completing the club-record capture of Swansea City's Andre Ayew.

Joining the cause

The Ghanaians' move to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, has made him the biggest signing in the club's history with the fee of £20.5million, signing an initial three-year contract with the additional two-year option.

Ayew will reunite with former Marseille teammate, Dimitri Payet and impressed many during his first season in the English top-flight.

The 26-year-old scored 12 goals in 34 games for the Swans, and he shared his delight at joining Slaven Bilic's side.

He told whufc.com: “I am very proud and happy to be at this magnificent club" and "I am happy to be playing for these fans and I hope to make the people very happy here."

He continued: “The club have a lot of ambition and have a great manager" and believes "they want to become a bigger club every year and with the new stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving onto another level and I want to be part of this project."

Ayew concluded: "I want to train hard, do my job and show that I deserve to play for West Ham United" and admitted "I want to give back to the manager and the fans the confidence they are showing me.”

Strengthening in numbers

Bilic will be looking to continue to add to his side, ahead of their opening clash with Chelsea, and did that earlier on Monday with the singing of Arthur Masuaku.

The full-back signed a four-year contract, in a deal believed to be worth £6.2 million.

The former Olympiacos players looks to be a direct replacement for the injured Aaron Cresswell, and he also shared his delight at joining the Hammers.

He said “It’s a big honour for me to be part of this club" and admitted “I was speaking with my agent about some opportunities, but when he told me about West Ham and also the coach, I didn't’t think twice, so in my mind, it was West Ham."

Masuaku concluded: "Now, to be able to play with players like Dimitri Payet, I was thinking on the way here, it’s going to be crazy!" and "I can’t wait to play with him and also all the rest of the team."

West Ham United will take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday, August 15 with kick-off at 8pm BST.
