Celtic FC are close to completion of the transfer of left winger, Derk Boerrigter from Ajax Amsterdam for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 Million.

The Dutch player is currently in Glasgow to put pen to paper on a deal subject to a medical.

The player, who Frank De Boer signed for Ajax, has been described by the Amsterdam club’s manager as “a special player. He’s a really wide winger with fantastic speed and can score goals when he comes in on his right foot. He has a terrific shot, particularly with his left foot, and Celtic will get a really good player. The former Dutch international continued by rating Boerrigter as “one of the best crossers of the ball in Holland.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is delighted with the capture of the flying Dutchman and in a press conference today stated that the winger is the "Type of player we have been after for quite a while. A pacey, left-footed player. Direct. Eliminator. Got goals in him as well." The Celtic boss added that he was “absolutely delighted to get that one over the line."

Celtic seem to have moved as quick as they can on this deal, in order to have the player registered before today’s deadline for their Champions League qualifier against the Swedish champions Elfsborg.
