Celtic and Burnley have reportedly had their respecitve bids for Dundee United midfielder, Stuart Armstong, rejected by the Tannadice club.

Celtic's bid, thought to be in the region of £1.5 million, has fell well short of United's valuation of their highly rated player meanwhile Burnley's offer was said to be even lower.

Armstrong, who has 18 months left on his current contract with The Terrors, has been tracked by several clubs after becoming a major prospect since joining from Inverness Caledonian Thistle. 

The Scotland u-21 international has scored 6 goals in 23 matches this season, but has been played provider and archetict for his team mates.

The Hoops have already won the signature of Armstrong's Dundee United colleague, Gary Mackay-Steven, who recently signed a pre-contract  at Celtic.
