However because Grosjean has a penalty he will drop down, which is a shame for the Frenchman.

Credit to Romain Grosjean and Sergio Perez, who are fourth and fifth for tomorrow's race. Ferrari however have some work to do if they are to consolidate second place in the constructors standings.

That's Hamilton's sixth pole in a row, and a whopping 10-1 in qualifying sessions this season. A clear advantage between the pair.

Lewis Hamilton takes pole position! Rosberg second, Bottas, third, with Grosjean in a shock fourth! Perez fifth, Ricciardo sixth, Massa seventh, Maldonado eighth, Vettel ninth and Sainz in tenth.

Chequered flag! Hamilton posts a 1:47:1, he's on pole! Rosberg only goes second. Vettel is ninth to compound the Scuderia's misery.

Q3: Two minutes left until we discover who's on pole position for the 2015 Belgian Grand Prix!

Q2: Chequered flag! here comes the madness!

Q2: 30 seconds remaining!

Q2: Four minutes left, Raikkonen is the first casualty of Q2, but who's going to join him? With the mid field being so tight at the moment, it's anyone's guess.

Q2: Back underway here. Only seven cars have set a time, with Rosberg fastest with a 1:47:9, which shows the track is clearly evolving here as more grip is laid down on the circuit.

Q2: "Something's broke!" Exclaims Raikkonen as his car stutters to a halt. Racing will resume in a minute or so.

Q2: Kimi Raikkonen has stopped on track, near where Maldonado crashed on Friday. Red flag as his car is parked in a dangerous location.

Q1: Verstappen reports a loss of power, however it doesn't stop him as he goes 13th! Sainz flies up the order as Felipe Nasr joins the McLaren's and Manor's in being out in Q1.

Q1: A minute left, Verstappen sits with the McLaren's and Manor's in the drop zone. Hamilton posts a 1:48:9 to go quickest, however it's all a tad irrelevant with the bottom of the order being the important one.

Q1: Perez goes fastest and looks safe for Q2. A 1:49:0, a stunning time for the Force India man.

Q1: Maldonado, Verstappen and Raikkonen are the ones sitting above the drop zone currently. But most are expected to post aonther time.

Q1: The McLaren's and the Manor's occupy the drop zone currently. Massa the only car not to set a time so far.

Q1: Merhi sets the first time of the afternoon with a 1:54:0. Bottas instantly displaces him with a 1:50:1. That is until Hamilton goes fastest with a 1:49:5.

Q1: Hamilton is outperforming Rosberg 9-1 in qualifying. Vettel's is 8-2, while other teams tend to have more evenly spread qualifying performances.

Q1: We're underway here in Belgium! Cars on track include Valtteri Bottas, Roberto Merhi, while Lewis Hamilton makes his way on to the track.

What can we expect from Kimi Raikkonen following his contract extension? Top five? Won't be easy for him with Williams likely to be quick round here.

So with McLaren certainly starting at the back of the grid can they get any further than Q1? or not bother seeing it as a waste of time? Who's going to join them? Manor, Sauber?

Not long now until Qualfying! What's your predictions for the action we're about to see? Hamilton or Rosberg for pole? a Ferrari surprise?

There’s been many historic moments at Spa over the years. The famous pile up of 1998, Mika Hakkinen’s masterful move on Michael Schumacher down the Kemmel Straight in 2000, and even Romain Grosjean’s huge crash at La Source in 2012.

With Spa being such a long track, drivers will need to keep their concentration levels high in order to deal with corners such as Eau Rouge, Blanchimont, Les Combes, Pouhon, and the Bus Stop chicane, which can all be treacherous.

Williams will be confident of their chances today. At the last power hungry circuit at Silverstone, Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa made the best of starts to lead the Mercedes pair.

Last season Rosberg secured pole here in a wet session. The Mercedes man lost out at the start and Hamilton jumped him on the line. On lap two the pair collided and this ignited the fire which had been building all season long. As the former friendship the pair had was tarnished.

TRACK GUIDE: For those unaware with the history and the layout of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Tom Simmonds takes you through it all here.

ROSBERG: “It has been a good start to the weekend and I am feeling comfortable.”

HAMILTON: “Nico is very quick so I’ll just do some work tonight and see if I can find some more time, but I am particularly not worried.”

Meanwhile at the front of the grid Lewis Hamilton claims he’s “not particularly worried” as Rosberg dominated on Friday.

McLaren have been penalised yet again both on and off track as their new engine upgrades failed to deliver on the thoughts that they’d be on par with Ferrari. As the engine upgrades have resulted in a 25 place penalty for Jenson Button and a 30 place penalty for Fernando Alonso.

PREVIEW: In case you missed it, here’s Liam Headd’s preview of tomorrow’s race, which includes all you need to know for Sunday’s big event.

Also McLaren have come to Belgium with engine upgrades following a less than impressive first half to the season. With Spa being such a power heavy circuit, with long straights and sweeping bends, power is everything here.

The big news of the summer break was Ferrari’s decision to retain Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn will stay on until the end of 2016, with the paddock widely believing the Scuderia are simply stalling while the driver market opens up next season.

Rosberg was the quicker driver in both practice sessions on Friday despite having a horror moment. His tyre blew out at around 180mph, causing the German’s session to end early. Luckily he was not injured in the crash.

Of course this season hasn’t been the most stellar in terms of a title fight, but things may just be heating up. Last season Spa was the scene of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg coming together at Les Combes.

Formula One returns after a four week break to Spa, one of the most historic and beautiful circuits on the grid. Teemed with history, the Belgian leg of the championship always promises excitement.

Good afternoon and welcome to VAVEL’s live commentary of Qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix! I’m Aaron Irwin and I’ll be guiding you through all the happenings at Spa as we await to see who will be on pole position.
