In the midst of on-going interest for Vincent Aboubakar, it appears that a first bid has finally been lodged for the Lorient striker.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, AZ Alkmaar have moved first to try and secure the Cameroonian's services. It's thought that an initial offer has been submitted in the last 48 hours by the Dutch club.

The exact offer from AZ is unknown in these early stages and although Lorient are trying to keep the striker, they have made it clear that €10 million is the amount they are looking to collect for Aboubakar, if he is to be sold.

The 22-year old had a break-out season in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 16 goals across all competitions for Los Merlus. That form also earned him a call-up to Volker Finke's Cameroon squad that played out in Brazil this summer. Aboubakar made two appearances in the group stages, starting up front against Croatia and Cameroon.

AZ boss Marco Van Basten is thought to be looking to add more fire-power to his attack, after a season in which they relied heavily on American striker Aron Jóhannsson to supply their goals.

If the Dutch club are to land the powerful forward, they will have to contend with a number of other clubs from around Europe, however. Hertha Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Southampton and Trabzonspor are all said to be considering entering negotiations with Lorient for his signature.
