PSV have confirmed that Dutch star Memphis Depay has put an end to rumours of a summer move by signing a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2018.

Despite being linked to a move away from the Philips Stadion this summer, Depay has commited his future to the 21-time Eredivisie winners. The 20-year old was rumoured to have warranted interest from both Tottenham and Manchester United after starring at this summer's World Cup but both clubs will have to look elsewhere after the PSV star penned a new deal.

Upon extending his current deal, Depay stated in an interview with PSV TV: "I am delighted to commit my future to this club."

Depay joined the PSV Academy in 2006 and made his club debut in 2011, scoring after 20 minutes. The winger then made his Eredivisie debut in 2012, at the age of 18; that season Depay went on to make 11 appearances in all competitions. It was not until the 2013/14 campaign that Depay made his breakthrough, scoring 16 goals in 43 total appearances and earning him a place in the Dutch World Cup squad.

After scoring 5 goals in just three appearances already this season, PSV were keen to tie him down for the long term. The winger is a key part of Phillip Cocu's plans and has arguably been their best player so far this season.
